Episode 1

Bill Bailey matches a remarkable young woman with cancer, who set up her own charity, with a realist painter to create a new art work.

Comedian and art lover Bill Bailey matches an inspiring young person with cancer with a realist portrait artist to create a stunning work of art.

Clare started her own charity after being diagnosed with incurable cancer in her twenties. Determined to make something positive out of her illness, she now helps raise money and support for other young people in a similar situation.

Clare was only 25 years old when she was first diagnosed with cancer. Following surgery, it looked like she was in the clear until a routine check up four years later revealed the cancer was back - and this time, it was incurable. Her aim now is to offer the support and community to young cancer patients that she desperately sought when she was first diagnosed.

Attempting to capture this remarkable woman on canvas is Oriane Pierrepoint, a realist painter and charcoal artist based in south Wales. The pressure is high, as Oriane knows this portrait will serve as a lasting legacy to Clare鈥檚 determination and achievements.

Extraordinary Portraits sees multi-talented musician, comedian and art enthusiast Bill Bailey match members of the public with extraordinary stories to some of the most distinctive portrait artists working today.
