´óÏó´«Ã½ New Generation Artists celebration plus Liszt from Switzerland

Linton Stephens showcases the best performances from the UK and beyond, including a celebration of the ´óÏó´«Ã½ New Generation Artists scheme and music from Switzerland.

Linton Stephens showcases the best performances by ´óÏó´«Ã½ orchestras, choirs, ensembles and other great performing groups from Europe and around the globe. This week on Classical Live, we celebrate 25 years of the ´óÏó´«Ã½ New Generation Artists scheme. Founded in 1999, the programme supports some of the world’s most exciting young instrumentalists, ensembles and singers at the start of their international careers, through performance and broadcast opportunities on Radio 3. Today, the Leonkoro Quartet perform Ravel, cellist Santiago Canon-Valencia joins pianist Naoko Sonoda to play music by Manuel De Falla and Alison Balsom performs Wynton Marsalis Trumpet Concerto as our centrepiece.

Plus, we will continue hearing music from Switzerland. The Swiss Orchestra, conducted by Lena-Lisa Wüstendörfer, perform Mozart's Eine kleine Nachtmusik and pianist Bertrand Chamayou joins the Basel Chamber Orchestra to perform Liszt's Malédiction in B minor.
