Zakir Hussain's Triple Concerto with the ´óÏó´«Ã½ SSO
An intoxicating combination of Eastern and Western traditions creates musical magic with the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Scottish Symphony Orchestra and Alpesh Chauhan.
In December last year, we were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Zakir Hussain. A legendary tabla virtuoso, global ambassador of Indian classical music and four-time GRAMMY winner, Hussain’s extraordinary legacy inspires musicians and music lovers around the world. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends and fans across the globe.
Zakir’s brother and tabla player, Fazal Qureshi, will perform as soloist in this special celebration concert. Alongside soloists Niladri Kumar (sitar) and Rakesh Chaurasia (bansuri), Fazal will perform Hussain’s own ‘Triple Concerto for Tabla, Sitar and Bansuri’, with the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Scottish Symphony Orchestra conducted by Alpesh Chauhan.
Hussain described his composition as “a tale of love, tradition, and the transforming power of art," and this programme consisting of an intoxicating combination of Eastern and Western traditions creates musical magic.
