Put a spring in your step with a selection of classical music inspired by the season.

This edition of Classical Mixtape opens with Howard Skempton's beautiful choral setting of words from the Biblical love song, Song of Songs. Next up is Steve Reich's pulsing, driving Nagoya Marimbas and, from several hundred years earlier, the joyful energy of Aria di Firenze per la C by Giovanni Paolo Foscarini. We've a brass setting of Anton Bruckner's uplifting anthem Os Justi; Florence Price's questing arrangement of gospel music for string quartet; and the joyful Playful Pizzicato from Britten's Simple Symphony. The mixtape closes with Morten Lauridsen's lyrical setting, for choir and piano, of poetry by James Agee, and Aaron Copland's timeless Variations on a Shaker Melody from Appalachian Spring.
