Hares and Rabbits

Charlotte Ritchie and James Quinn with readings from books and poems by Richard Adams, Beatrix Potter, Judith Kerr and Aesop alongside music ranging from Janacek to Peggy Seegar.

Our readers Charlotte Ritchie and James Quinn go on the hunt for literary lagomorphs including Peter Rabbit, Watership Down's Hazel and El-ahrairah, and the mad March Hare from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. We'll hear from Seamus Heaney's translation of an old English poem listing Names of the Hare, whilst Chloe Dalton's book describes Raising Hare.

Musically we range from Janacek's Cunning Little Vixen to the overture of Suppe's Ein Morgen, ein Mittag und ein Abend in Wien conducted by Bugs Bunny, plus Peggy Seeger's Old Mister Rabbit and Michael Andrew's score to Donnie Darko, as we welcome in the season of spring with music and readings inspired by rabbits, hares, kits and cottontails.
