Kevin Spacey on films for phones, Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Pirate Bay trial begins in Sweden

MOBILE WORLD CONGRESS IN BARCELONA

Fifty thousand people from the mobile phone industry were in Barcelona this week for the biggest annual meeting devoted to cellphones. Gareth catches up with Mike Butcher from TechCrunch for the latest gossip from inside the industry.

For aspiring filmmakers, there are few opportunities to fund and screen short films. But mobile phones are increasingly being seen as a new platform for ‘shorts’.

This year, Kevin Spacey hosted the Mofilm awards in Barcelona, which recognize the best in cellphone films. He took time out to tell Gareth why he is excited about this new avenue for filmmakers.

PIRATE BAY TRIAL IN SWEDEN

Also this week, a courtroom drama has been unfolding in Sweden. The defendants are the founders of Pirate Bay, a site which links to illegal downloads of music, films and games. ´óÏó´«Ã½ Technology News editor Darren Waters gives Gareth the background behind this landmark case.
