Gurrumul
Gurrumul is a blind Aboriginal Australian artist. He's a member of the Gumatj clan of north east Arnhemland and it is the songs and stories of the Gumatj clan that Gurrumul sublimely adapts into contemporary song styles. A multi-award winning artist, he comes into The Strand studio with his band - on cello and guitar to perform an acoustic song.
Iraqi Film School
Amidst terrifying conditions, Maysoon Pachachi has opened a remarkable film school - in Iraq. She teaches wannabe directors in Baghdad how to make movies despite kidnappings, suicide bombings, and the constant threat of danger. She tells the Strand why she does it.
