South American invaders
For almost 100 million years South America was an island, where its inhabitants evolved in isolation. Around 3 million years ago, a land bridge was created by the same kind of movements of the Earth's crust that built the Andes. The impact on the continent and its wildlife was profound as species began to move between the two land masses.
