Mating marathon
Out in the open sea, olive ridley turtles are courting. There's stiff competition between the males and constant interruptions during mating. Turtles can hold their breath for five hours, but mating can take even longer and the turtles have to come up for air while still joined. After mating the female will come ashore for the first time in her life, heading for the beach where she was born with unerring instinct.
