In the light of the recent killing of Sultan Munadi, an Afghan journalist working alongside a New York Times reporter, Rajan talks to a representative of the International Federation of Journalists about the safety of media personnel. He finds out why a Nairobi-based correspondent was used to cover the recent riots in Uganda – even though the African Service had a reporter on the spot.
