A unique chance to walk up close to a white rhino is not something to pass up, but Mark and Stephen are caught off guard as this individual gets a little too close for comfort. However, this is one of the tamest rhinos in the area. Max, as he's known, was bottle fed and hand-reared so gives Stephen and Mark a chance to get very close indeed. Mark explains how the name white rhino came about as a corruption of the Afrikaans word 'weit' meaning wide, which describes their mouths rather than their colour.
