Baobab avenue
The unusual looking baobab tree can be found looking majestic in what is known as the Avenue of the Baobabs on Madagascar's west coast. These baobabs are all that's left of a once mighty, lush jungle. Their wood is bad for burning and buildling, and so these remnants have been left alone by the local people. All the other trees have gradually vanished leaving a barren grassland, void of a once rich diversity of wildlife.
