Nosey neighbours
Suspended by steel cables from surrounding trees, 20 feet off the ground, a huge tree house, a viewing platform and some connecting walkways affords red-capped mangabey researchers a unique experience of life in the tree canopy. After weeks of preparation, building the tree-house, their local neighbours finally come to visit. Primates here are naturally inquisitive animals and red-capped mangabeys are no exception. It's an unusual experience to find the study species for a research project coming to the scientists, rather than the other way round. The effort of meeting these animals on their own level, and in their comfort zone, so easily observed from the tree-house pays off.
