To celebrate the Chinese new year of 4707, we take a close look at tigers: their beauty and their plight. Over the years, the 大象传媒 has filmed the stories of individuals, and some wonderful footage of these extraordinarily beautiful animals. Programmes have also explored the threats facing this dwindling species, the conservation efforts being made to save them and what hopes may remain for their survival. This montage shows short excerpts from some of these clips and the full clips are available to watch in the collection. Against a desire for products for the Chinese medicine trade, denial of the problem by officialdom and the pressures put on local communities that live in close proximity to these dangerous predators, the clips in the collection throw up some suprising turns in the story.
