Wow – off to a flying start this morning!
What do you do if you're being bullied at work? Maybe you call a helpline. If you do, I guess you expect your call will remain confidential. But the boss of the National Bullying Helpline claims to have had calls from people working in Downing Street .....
This rang a chord with Erwin who rang in to share her experience. She eventually left a situation where she was being bullied but has turned this into a positive experience by setting up in business on her own. What a reaction … sympathy and then celebration.
And would you be surprised by a programme about hearing loss on the radio? This morning Jim was joined by Julie Bird & Tom Kane (Effective Hearing Programme Tutor) and a lovely third guest … Nevis (Tom’s hearing loss dog who once ate The Princess Royal’s glove!)
Tom worked with the RAF for 30 years and suffered 60% hearing loss caused by noise. Julie became aware of hearing loss about 18 months ago when she realised that she couldn't hear her customers properly. Fortunately via specialist referral she very quickly joined one of Tom's courses and has learnt simple strategies for coping with this hearing loss.
Ken rang in to share his excitement at being lined up for his first hearing aid and Susan – deaf since she was five – is now wearing her fourth set of aids and couldn’t speak too highly of Tom’s classes.
Oh … great music, and the usual Hats Off to Humanity stories!!
