It’s St George’s day on Friday. Proud to fly the red and white, or do you – do we – ignore England’s patron saint?

Sheila always celebrates St George’s Day in a rather loud way, John is pleased to see that celebrations are planned in Telford Town centre and Pauline has happy memories of Maypole dancing at school.

Some newspapers have said that England is “the least patriotic country in Europe”. Jim is surprised and asks whether listeners agree. Whilst a council worker has been told not to fly flags at work, many people have made very “English” plans for Friday … Morris dancing, archery and, as Charlie said, “go out and celebrate – we live in the greatest country in the whole world!”

The dates for digital TV switchover in some parts of the county were announced today and Jim asks questions on your behalf of Peter Montieth from Digital UK.

Jim is on a bench in Southwater Square, Telford this afternoon. You can catch up with who he meets there on Friday’s show.
