As the world population grows and demand for food increases, one of the key challenges is to keep food fresher for longer to help cut out waste. At the Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute in Belfast, food microbiologists use a machine which kills the microbes but keeps the nutrients and vitamins in food intact.
