Tanzania's Economy
Andrew Walker reports from Tanzania on how it has coped with the global recession.
The 大象传媒's economics correspondent, Andrew Walker returns to the commercial capital of Tanzania, Dar es Salaam, a year after he first reported on early signs of the global recession reaching African shores. He finds that although the recession has left its mark, most people feel it could have been a lot worse.
Andrew speaks to Shabbir Zavery, the head of a family business, Tanzania Brush Products, and to Steinar Harstad of the Tanzania Portland Cement Company. They both have stories of a global recession that did affect them, but not as badly as many feared.
And we hear from a Dar es Salaam economist, Aidan Eyakuze of Serengeti Advisers, who says that overall, Africa can breathe a sigh of relief.
