A Bank Holiday Special
The very best of series six as Marcos and the team discover a world of music in Oxfordshire. From an Oxford lady's musical adventures in Serbia to the Russian balalaika and much, much more.
Marcos and the Global Echoes team have put together some of the highlights from series six to bring you sounds and stories from all over the world that are to be found right here in Oxfordshire.
Marcos met up with Karavai, a quartet from Perm (which is twinned with Oxford) in Russia, to learn all about the balalaika, an instrument best known to many from the film Doctor Zhivago.
Rich Ward caught up with Oxford's Faith Elliott, a musician and ethnomusicologist who decided to drive solo all the way to Serbia in order to learn the accordion from the Roma people. Faith participated in many a coffee-fuelled all-night musical session in the process.
Marcos also discovered the world of Lau, who play traditional Scottish music, right here in Chipping Norton.
Plus sounds from the Sahara, North India and Qawwali music from France.
