Leaving the glens
If you just look through the tree trunks in these Highland woods, every now and again you'll see red deer. There are quite a few of them - completely the opposite to the traditional view really. They are much more likely to be tiptoeing through the woods. The fact is the red deer round here do go up onto the hillsides, particularly in summer, but during winter there are far more of them in the woods and near the woods than there are up on the tops. So, it鈥檚 not so much Monarch of the Glen as lesser royalty of the woods.
