Seeing with the unconscious
A man with brain damage demonstrates a phenomenon called ‘blindsight’ in which his brain appears to be able to ‘see’ even though he’s blind on the right-hand side of his visual field.
When shown a light on the right side of a screen he cannot consciously see it, yet he is able to guess where it is 8 out of 10 times. The clip is taken from the series Human Brain, first shown on ´óÏó´«Ã½ Two in 1982.
