Andrew Graham-Dixon investigates the Osiris Camera at the National Gallery
Andrew Graham-Dixon meets the National Gallery鈥檚 Osiris camera, which uses Infrared Reflectography to penetrate to the level of the original underdrawings.
Research Associate Rachel Billinge demonstrates how the camera has revealed that the gallery鈥檚 copy of 鈥淭he Virgin and Child with an Angel鈥 is a forgery.
The original was painted by Italian Renaissance artist Francesco Francia. But, the National Gallery鈥檚 copy was probably painted in the second half of the 19th century.
