Women priests in the Catholic Church
The Pope says any attempt to ordain women as priests in the Roman Catholic church is a "crime against the faith." Richard speaks to a Leeds woman who still wants to be priest.
The Pope says that any attempt to ordain women as priests in the Roman Catholic church is a "crime against the faith" and contrary to Church law.
In a letter sent to Bishops around the world this week, he says anyone who agrees to ordain a woman, will be excommunicated.
The law is now in the same category as clerical sexual abuse, heresy - and trying to divide the church.
The dictat is part of a raft of new disciplinary rules.
Pippa Bonner is from the campaign group Leeds Catholic Women's Ordination and spoke to Richard about how she feels personally about the letter from the Pontiff.
