Asylum Seekers and Ban the Burka
We talk to British Jews about Israel, and discuss a burka ban with a Muslim writer.
There was a report published this week by the Institute for Jewish Policy Research about the attitudes of British Jews about Israel. Jesmond Blumenfeld, former President of the Oxford Jewish Community, and Peter Oppenheimer, former Head of the Oxford Centre for Hebrew & Jewish Studies in Yarnton, joined Phil in the studio to talk about the report and the difficult questions it deals with.
Matt Holman - Director of Asylum Welcome - came in to talk about the work of the organisation, including the visits they make to Kidlington's Campsfield House.
After the French Parliament decided to approve a ban on women covering their faces in public this week, Phil spoke to Myriam Cerrah, a Muslim writer who wears a headscarf, about this emotive issue.
Our paper reviewer was Lizi Bowerman, Oxford Centre Manager for Christians Against Poverty.
