Now we know more of the detail of the Government's future spending plans how will the deficit busting measures affect the eastern region? Our local councils are digesting the news that there will be overall savings in funding of just over 7% per year for the next four years. Police spending will fall by 4% each year but nationally, the schools budget will rise by 4 billion pounds to 39 billion pounds.
On the roads, the 1.4 billion pound upgrade of the A14 is not going ahead, but the A11 will now be dualled in Suffolk and Norfolk.
