Gastronomic garden snails
The Romans gave us snails! Of course there have always been snails of some sort in Britain, but it was the Romans who brought over the all too familiar garden snail. Introduced as a gourmet delicacy, these days it鈥檚 the snails that seem to be doing most of the eating! A single snail can have 430 babies in a year. They really are eating us out of house and home. How ironic that the humble snail lasted longer than the mighty Romans.
