The impact on Scots of the King James Bible
To strengthen the Union of the Crowns, King James I commanded that Sunday services were to be conducted using the authorised translated English version of the Bible.
At a church service in Girvan, Reverend Fraser Aitken reads from the King James Bible but occasionally preaches in the old Scots tongue. (Broadcast: 13/10/1986)
