Oxfordshire set for electric trains
Commuters in Oxfordshire and Berkshire are set to benefit from new electric trains by 2016. The Oxford and Didcot to London lines will be electrified and use old Thameslink trains.
Electrification - Interesting news for Oxfordshire commuters with the announcement that the line from Oxford via Didcot to London will be electrified. Still no news about the High Speed Trains on the line to Swindon and Wales.
Bishop - Rt Revd. John Pritchard has been elevated to the house of Lords today and will take on the portfolio for Education within the Church of England.
Comics Move - Dennis the Menace, the Bash Street Kids and Minnie the Minx are all moving to Oxfordshire (Launton near Bicester). Printing of the magazines, in which they feature, is being relocated to the county from Dundee which has been their home for 70 years.
RAF Bicester - The Ministry of Defence has been accused of "scandalous" neglect of historic buildings at the former RAF Bicester, after an inspection report detailed hundreds of defects needing urgent repair. The Defence Estates organisation says it will endeavour to keep buildings weather-tight but its financial priority is supporting military operations.
Mercers Money - McDonald's is introducing its own degree course in business management for its restaurant bosses in the UK. The move comes 18 months after the launch of the fast food chain's apprenticeship scheme which has been rated good by Ofsted.
