From Nina to Norma is a new project of Juliet Kelly who will start a UK tour next month. Inspired: Celebrating the Jazz Divas starts off in Stratford on 6 February and visits 13 centres including Derby, Oxford, Bristol and Bath. We hear from the New Paul Whiteman Orchestra which was formed in the UK in the mid-1970. We remember Margaret Whiting and although she wasn鈥檛 exactly a jazz singer, she did lend her voice to some quite jazzy numbers. There鈥檚 some Benny Goodman with Art Lund singing and some Tony Bennett with Bill Evans all because of a chance conversation. Clifford Brown, Roger Beaujolais and Roy Hargrove go some way to a complete two-hour session of some of the best jazz around.
