Building Schools for the Future
Lancashire's schools say that six months after the government ended the Building Schools for the Future project, they're facing cuts of 80 per cent in their maintenance and building budgets.
Six months ago the education secretary Michael Gove pulled the plug on a multi-million pound plan to improve Lancashire's schools. Building Schools for the Future created state-of-the-art education facilities in Burnley, Padiham and Nelson. Their neighbours in Hyndburn were gearing up for their share when the cash was cut. So how are those schools coping in the same buildings - without the prospect of extra funding?
