The Royal Berkshire Hospital had to implement its emergency flu action plan for the first time earlier this month.
To cope with almost a third more admissions because of the flu outbreak, an extra ward was opened to increase capacity and the number of intensive care beds was increased by a quarter.
Dr. Jonathan Fielden is the Chief Medical Officer at the Royal Berkshire Hospital and explained more to Andrew Peach about their emergency flu action plan.
Andrew spoke to Ian Jones, Professor of virology at the University of Reading who says we could be over the worst.
