A firm which carries out Criminal Records Bureau checks is warning the government's decision to reduce the number of people who have to go through the vetting procedure will put people at risk.
A Lancashire firm that carries out Criminal Records Bureau checks says children and vulnerable adults will be put at risk by plans to reduce the number of people being checked. The vetting procedure ensures employers and charities know if an applicant has committed any relevant offences before offering them certain roles. But new proposals from the government could mean an end to CRB checks for more than nine million people. Richard Mellor from Personnel Checks in Accrington says that's a dangerous step.
