A travelling salesman tries to sell the McCooeys a twenty volume encyclopaedia and is finally routed by Granda. Meta calls in and bemoans her mother-in-law's interference. The family discuss the merits of turkey or goose for Christmas dinner with Granda keen to have goose. Greer and Sammy are talked into buying sets of the encyclopaedia on the 'never-never'.
