Bruegel

Episode 4 of 5

Rolf teams up with Gerald Scarfe to tackle Pieter Bruegel's grotesque satirical drawings, as he enters the world of the 16th century pioneer of landscape art.

Rolf Harris enters the world of Pieter Bruegel, the 16th century pioneer of landscape art. He imitates the artist by sneaking into a party and secretly collecting images of the guests for his modern day take on Bruegel's Peasant Wedding Feast, complete with rowdy eating, drinking and dancing. He teams up with cartoonist Gerald Scarfe to tackle Bruegel's grotesque satirical drawings, and finds out how Bruegel's characters have been brought to life by a New York circus. Finally, Rolf compares his internet-bought copy of a Bruegel painting with copies produced by generations of Bruegel's descendants - which can fetch huge sums today.
