Trekkers visit Sightsavers clinic
Radio Four presenter Peter White and singer Craig David visited a Sightsavers clinic in Samburu on Sunday afternoon to find out about the kind of work they do in Kenya preventing and treating eye diseases like trachoma and cataracts. The BT Red Nose Desert Trek will be helping raise money to support similar projects across the barren Marsabit district where the trek is taking place. Peter White has first hand experience of what it's like to be blind, but was shocked at just how tough life can be for people living in such a remote and poverty isolated area of Africa.
