Jonathan Scott is on the barren coast of Namibia with Jean-Paul Roux, a French biologist who's worked here for nearly ten years. As they walk around they see jackass penguins that have moved into derelict buildings around the abandoned harbour, and are even nesting inside them. Jonathan is surprised to find penguins in Africa but notices that this part of Africa resembles the south Antarctic - cold, rugged and with rich seas. As they approach the penguins, the birds make the donkey-like braying sound that earned them their name. The endangered penguins use seaweed to build their nests and at any one time of the year you can find penguins courting, incubating their eggs, raising chicks, or moulting.
