Referendum on radioactive waste

A local referendum could be held across 12 East Northants villages as part of the campaign against plans to dispose of low level radioactive waste at a site near King's Cliffe.

A local referendum could be held across 12 East Northamptonshire villages - as part of the campaign against plans by a company called Augean to dispose of low level radioactive waste at a site near King's Cliffe.

In November last year, a public inquiry into the plans was concluded. The recommendation by the Planning Inspector has now been passed to the Communities Secretary, Eric Pickles. His decision is due any moment now.

The local referendum - or Parish Poll - is being organised by East Nothamptonshire & District Local Democracy in Action.
