Great crested grebe courtship display
Great crested grebes look very similar but the male is the one offering nesting material to the female. The courtship dance is truly spectacular with head shaking, parallel swimming and weed sharing. They have the most complex courtship display of any Welsh bird, dancing and mimicking one another. Their elaborate ear tufts are only around during the spring for the diplay and disappear for the rest of the year.
