When green dreams meet reality
UK dilutes green housing plans as global cash woes continue to hurt eco-dreams
Following the UK Government's decision to quietly scrap plans to force all new homes to be built zero carbon, One Planet explores why it's so difficult to ensure ambitious sustainability projects are seen through. We visit the housing project that was to test the zero carbon idea, and ask the minister responsible whether the idea was ever a realistic one. UK MP Andrew Stunell also discusses with Mike why energy efficiency in homes might not be as sexy as electric cars, but has the potential to make massive reductions in carbon emissions.
Also in the show we hear from other countries where eco-projects that received much praise and positive press coverage are now being downgraded. As ever, tune in, have a listen and let us know what you think. Email the team at oneplanet@bbc.com, or join us on Facebook, the link's below.
