Jackson Brodie's ex-wife is furious when a bloodied Jackson turns up at the door with daughter Marlee who excitedly tells her mother that he beat someone up!

Back at his office, DI Louise Munroe bursts in and tears strips off Jackson for accessing the police computer system using her password.

They are interrupted by client Julia Land who, obviously attracted to Jackson, wants to tell him about her new acting job. As Jackson introduces them, Louise tells Julia it's unlikely that he will find her lost sister. Julia replies that she has faith in Jackson.
