Homo Sapiens, mother and boy, find a diseased, dying Homo Erectus man in the cave they are searching. Distracted by feeding much needed water to the man, the boy does not notice that he is about to attack them with a concealed hand axe. The mother notices and quickly kills him with the boy's spear. The commentary highlights that the illness suffered by the man was likely to be caused by Homo Erectus' fondness for meat. There is evidence that they displayed signs of vitamin A poisoning.
