Lady Gaga on Ukuleles and canoeing for cancer in Suffolk

Ukulele maestros The Re-Entrants play live and a Suffolk man canoes for cancer.

Something to make you smile on a Saturday: Lady Gaga with ukuleles?

Ahead of this weekend's ukulele festival at Run Cottage Campsite, Hollesley, 大象传媒 Radio Suffolk is treated to a little bit of The Re-Entrants playing live in the studio.

Ian Emmerson and Phil Doleman met via the Ukulele Cosmos forum online and have just done their 200th gig.

Alli Burke is the landlady of the Ukulele Cosmos forum.

"This is an annual occurrence and literally began as one man and his dog seven years ago," she said.

"Now we get about 100 uke players from as far afield as Melbourne, New York, Arizona, Sweden, Japan, France, Holland, Germany, Ireland and of course from throughout the UK.

"There is an evening concert on Saturday but this is already 'sold out' to campers on site.

"People are welcome to come during the day and browse the instruments and there are lots of ad hoc jam sessions going on that can be as entertaining as the evening do."

There is a new ukulele jam session in Sudbury (known as the Sudbury Ukulele Pluckers) which is usually held on the fourth Wednesday of the month, held at the Wagon & Horses. All ability levels of player are welcome.

Staying with the theme of coming together, two Suffolk scouts share their thoughts ahead of travelling to the 2011 World Scout Jamboree in Sweden.

In total 36 scouts from Suffolk will be part of the 22nd Jamboree, joining 4,000 others from across the UK and 34,000 more from around the world.

Also on the show Suffolk canoeist Mike Adams is embarking his four estuaries challenge, paddling along the Stour, Orwell, Ore and Deben.

Mike was diagnosed with oesophagus cancer in 2009.

"I have always had an affinity with our many rivers and estuaries both on the shore and on the water and my recent illness has made me appreciate the beauty and diversity of them all the more."

"Having decided to challenge myself to raise much needed funds for our hospitals and cancer care and research, I could think of no better way than to make use of our great rivers and estuaries."
