Stranded on the Cambrian coast

This news clip from 1982 reports on the heavy snow and drifts that had blocked a British Rail passenger train on the Cambrian Line in West Wales.

After 24 hours stuck on a cold train, four passengers and three crew were eventually rescued. The weather conditions had been so severe that British Rail snowplough trains intened for rescue had themselves got stuck in the snow drifts.

Eventually, a break in the weather allowed a helicopter from RAF Valley in Anglesey to rescue both passengers and crew.
