Some riot sentences are too severe - that's the claim from some human rights campaigners after two people were given four years for inciting riots on facebook... One man will appeal against his imprisonment...

But is the harsh treatment the right way forward? Or should we be more intelligent when sentencing?

James Clappison is the Conservative MP for Hertsmere, and member of the Home Affairs Select Committee - he debates the point with Ronnie.
