Riots lead to prison population increase
The prison population has risen over the past week as courts sentence people for rioting.

The prison population in England and Wales has risen by about 100 a day over the past week because courts are sentencing high numbers of people for looting and rioting. Eoin McLennan-Murray, the president of The Prison Governors Association, talks to Jessica Cooper.
A man, believed to be a lorry driver, has died in a crash on the M1 in Bedfordshire. Two lorries collided in the roadworks section on the northbound carriageway between junction 12 at Toddington and junction 13 for Milton Keynes South.
