ROBERT RAUSCHENBERG
One of many outstanding shows in the Edinburgh Art Festival,'Botanical Vaudeville' at Inverleith House is an exhibit of later works by the Texan Robert Rauschenberg, who died in 2008 after a lifetime at the sharp edge of American art. Predating Warhol by a decade, Rauschenberg is best known for his daring collages, sculptures and screenprints incorporating mundane and discarded objects and commenting on American culture. Alastair Sooke visits the collection which features some of Rauschenberg's most political and playful originals.
