Moorlands School in Luton is one of 24 free schools opening across the country this week. Our reporter was at the opening this morning. Martin Johnson, the deputy general secretary of the Association of Teachers and Lecturers, talks to Jessica Cooper.

Hundreds of jobs are being made available in Milton Keynes. A recruitment drive is under way for the new Network Rail building which will become the company's national centre next year.

It's being suggested police officers should travel to work in their uniforms to increase their visibility. The think tank Policy Exchange claims not enough police officers are getting out on the beat.
