Crime and punishment

This lunchtime Fitz is joined by a group of local magistrates who'll be lifting the lid on some of the secrets of the courtroom and taking your calls on crime and punishment.

Cast your mind back a few weeks to the looting and rioting in London and other cities - and the subsequent court appearances of some of those involved.

There were lots of conversations about 'the sentence fitting the crime' and how sentences were decided.

Would, for instance, someone appearing at a court in Devon be served the same punishment as someone appearing for a similar crime in Cumbria?

This lunchtime on the Interactive Lunch, Fitz will be joined by a group of local magistrates who will be lifting the lid on some of the secrets of the courtroom and taking your calls.

0845 301 1034. Calls cost up to 5p/min on a landline. Calls from a mobile may cost more.
