Reincarnation: You Only Live Twice?
One in four people in Britain say they believe in reincarnation, which has its roots in the world's oldest organised religion, Hinduism. Meera Syal narrates the personal stories of British Hindus who are grappling with the real meaning and demands of belief in reincarnation. A son wanting to give his dying father an open pyre cremation is caught between his Hindu faith and British law. A disabled father has overcome suggestions that his disability is the result of bad karma from a previous life, but must now come to terms with the sudden death of his own son. This thought-provoking film shows that belief in reincarnation is more challenging than it might at first appear and, for some Hindus, makes demands that are all too real.
