Gateshead Disability Athletics Challenge
The World Championships in New Zealand are six months away. Libby attends the Gateshead Disability Athletics Challenge and if she gets a good time in either the 100 metres or 200metres, she’ll guarantee herself a place on the team.
Because she can’t see, Libby runs with a guide, Lincoln Asquith ex Commonwealth silver medallist. Libby wins and her time is 12.8seconds – only 2 100ths of a second off qualification for New Zealand.
To be a guide, you have to be able to run faster than the athlete. But if Lincoln picks up an injury, Libby can’t compete and his stepson Mikail Huggins is coming through as Lincoln’s back up for the 200metres. It’s a good time 26.71seconds
